Film Reponse
Do you feel the film set out to recreate the book faithfully, or did it aim to adapt the book?
I believe the movie adapted the book as the movie wasn't as similar to the book as they left a lot of scenes out and added different scene in. What approach do you think you might have taken if the task of filming the book had been your responsibility? I would have tried to make the movie as similar to the book. I might have cut out a few scenes here and there but I probably wouldn’t have added any different scenes. I may have changed some scenes to make the story go along a little fast and delete some scenes that aren’t important. Select two memorable or important scenes in the film and why? I found when Tris picked dauntless as her new faction quiet memorable scenes because it would have been a hard pick between her family or another faction. When she looked back at her family when she was leaving made me heart broken because just thinking of the fact she might not ever see them again. Another scene I found memorable was when Tris was flying through the city. She finally felt free and the look on her face made her look relaxed. This is a memorable scene because she finally felt apart of dauntless. What are the main similarities/differences between these memorable scenes and those that you found memorable in the book? In the movie for the scene when Tris chose her faction was very similar to the book. It was a hard decision in the book and movie as well as the thought of losing her family. For the scene when she went flying in the book it wasn’t such a big deal as it was in the movie. In the movie there is nearly a whole scene on it but in the book it is just mentioned and a bit described. Did you prefer the book or the film? Why? I preferred the book as I found it much easier to understand then in the movie. In the book I knew what was happening as sometimes in the movie I couldn’t quiet get it. If I didn’t read the book before it I would of found the movie hard to understand. |
